The Digital Transformation of Supply Chain Resilience: Micro-level Mechanisms and Governance Pathways for Specialised, Refined, Unique and Innovative Enterprises

Abstract

In recent years, global environmental uncertainties have led to a continuous rise in supply chain fragility and an escalating risk of disruption. Specialised, Refined, Unique and Innovative (SRUI) enterprises, which specialise in niche sectors, are key players at critical nodes within the supply chain. Based on a theoretical framework regarding how digital technologies enhance the supply chain resilience of SRUI enterprises, this paper employs a two-way fixed-effects model to reveal the pathways through which digital technologies bolster the supply chain resilience of these enterprises. The research indicates that the application of digital technologies has a significant positive impact on the supply chain resilience of Specialised, Refined, Unique and Innovative enterprises. This effect is transmitted through product competitiveness and the degree of specialisation, whilst the enterprise’s market competitive position and the institutional environment act as moderators. Furthermore, this enhancing effect is more pronounced among mature enterprises, enterprises in the eastern regions, and both technologyintensive and labour-intensive enterprises. This research provides a theoretical basis for enterprises to strengthen the transmission mechanism through which digital technology empowers supply chain resilience, for the government to foster a differentiated competitive environment, and for the establishment of regional coordination mechanisms.
